Belmore pride themselves on the strength of their selection criteria, only retaining in stud about 40 heifers each year. Our cows are subject to the same strict standards as our bulls, selected for structural soundness, fertility, doing ability and weight for age. The current calving number is around 260 head per annum, and we drop cows for age in their 11th year as well as culling vigorously for other traits throughout the year.
We are always happy to sell stud females to any keen Shorthorn enthusiast, please contact us if you wish to arrange an inspection or for further information.
Belmore sell the yearling heifers not retained in stud each year. If you are a stud or commercial buyer looking to boost your numbers please contact us.
In 2023 Belmore showed two yearling heifers for the first time in some years. Third generation Belmore, Lottie Volker, had a lot of fun with her two heifers at the SA Junior Heifer Show, National Shorthorn Youth Expo and a few local shows. Belmore Lara Croft T145, sired by The Grove Playstation P0870, won her class at the National Shorthorn Youth Expo and was Reserve Junior Interbreed Heifer at Naracoorte Show and picked up many fans. Her stable mate Belmore Ellyse T99 won her class at Naracoorte and Penola Shows, this super quiet Royalla Tremain M260 daughter loved the whole experience.
